Anti-government protesters in Peru, mostly from remote Andean regions, flocked to the country’s capital to march against President Dina Boluarte on Thursday. The protesters are seeking Boluarte’s resignation, the dismissal of Congress, immediate elections, and the release of President Pedro Castillo who was impeached after his failed attempt to dismiss Congress. The protests erupted last month with severe clashes between protesters and security forces that caused the death of 53 people so far.
