Anti-government protesters in Bolivia on Wednesday lifted blockades that had separated the Santa Cruz Region from the rest of Bolivia for almost 15 days. However, leaders of the Civic Committee said that they could return with the same measure to press the government to release the region’s governor, Luis Fernando Camacho, widely known as head of opposition to Bolivia’s current left-wing government. Bolivian state television reported that a few small roadblocks still remained but the main ones had been removed.
