China’s economic growth fell to its second-worst level in more than four decades in large due to the country’s harsh zero-COVID policy. China’s National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday revealed that its economy grew by just 3% in 2022, much less than the year before reaching 8.1%. It was the second-lowest annual rate since the late 1970s only after the 2.4% mark in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.
