Serbian Troops On Kosovo Border Ready For Combat

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.6

Serbian troops on the Kosovo border have been placed on combat readiness in response to reports of alleged harassment of Kosovo Serbs, including a shooting incident in the town of Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo.  Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that “all measures be taken to protect the Serbian people in Kosovo.”  Kosovo broke away from Serbia in 2008 and the area was at war from 1998-1999 until a NATO peacekeeping force known as KFOR intervened.  KFOR has issued a statement saying, “It is important for all involved to avoid any rhetoric or actions that can cause tensions and escalate the situation.”
