Death Toll Reaches 28 in Western NY from Winter Storm

In one of the worst weather-related disasters ever to befall Western New York, 28 people have died in Buffalo where they were found in cars, homes, and snowbanks.  Ashton Robinson Cook, National Weather Service meteorologist, said the storm developed near the Great Lakes which created the blizzard conditions but the storm has weakened and relief is coming later this week as temperatures are expected to rise.
