China Warns U.S. To Not Cross ‘Red Line’

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying that the U.S. must stop its “old routine of unilateral bullying” and not to cross China’s ‘red lines.’  Mirroring remarks Chinese President Xi Jinping said to President Joe Biden in Bali last month, Wang is referring to U.S. policy and influence concerning Taiwan which China considers its own territory.  Biden had raised objections to China’s “coercive and increasingly aggressive actions towards Taiwan.”  When Blinken raised concerns about the war in Ukraine, Wang replied that China has “always stood by the side of peace and the purposes of the UN Charter.”
