The former acting U.S. Attorney General for the Trump Administration Matthew Whitaker said he doesn’t think the Department of Justice will act on the January 6th Committee recommendations to pursue criminal charges against President Donald Trump. “If anything, it’ll probably hurt the investigation,” Whitaker said during an interview. He said that the panel was politicly motivated and used poor legal techniques during the process, even failing to include any quotes from Trump or any of his testimony. Whitaker said of the new Republican-majority House set to convene January 3rd, “it will be interesting to see how [Republicans] use these levers” in the investigation going forward.
