At 1:30 in the morning on Monday, with only days left under Democrat control, Congress dropped a 4,155 page, $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill in hopes of getting it pushed through for a vote by Thursday. The only dissenting Senate Republicans are Sens. Rand Paul, Mike Braun, Ron Johnson, Mike Lee and Rick Scott. The bill contains $858 for defense which some GOP members argue is a win. The bill also expressly prohibits Border Patrol funding to improve U.S. border security while allocating $410 billion for border security in Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman. Millions are allocated to honor Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Michelle Obama, as well as the “Ukrainian Independence Park” in D.C., and an LGBTQ+ museum in NYC. Other funding is earmarked to fight “structural racism” and provide “family planning” in areas where increased population “threatens biodiversity.”
