Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has ordered a temporary halt to the end of Title 42 which keeps in place limits on asylum seekers coming into the U.S. As thousands of migrants gather at the border, the question remains whether the federal government has a plan to deal with a surge in applicants and the stress that a sudden influx of people would put on border states’ health care and law enforcement. Nineteen states have argued against the lifting of Title 42 which was enacted by President Trump in March 2020. Justice Roberts’ stay expires at 5PM Tuesday.
