Peru’s Congress approved a plan to hold early elections in an attempt to end a national political crisis that has caused a deadly unrest.  The proposal would move presidential and congressional elections up to April 2024, originally scheduled for 2026.  The plan would also add an article to the Peruvian constitution which must be ratified by another two-thirds majority in the next annual legislative session to be adopted.
