Massachusetts Supreme Court Rules Against Medically Assisted Suicide

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

The Massachusetts Supreme Court has ruled against the use of medically-assisted suicide saying it is a matter for the state legislature.  The suit was originally brought by Dr. Roger Kligler who has stage 4 cancer and another physician who want to avoid manslaughter charges for prescribing end-of-life medication to patients who wish to die. The court in the ruling also differentiated between a patient refusing treatment and a patient seeking to end their own life as two different things.  More than a dozen bills to legalize medically-assisted suicide have been introduced in the state but none have ever been put to a vote.
