On Wednesday the announcement of impending layoffs came to Washington Post employees by publisher Fred Ryan at an all-hands meeting.  The Washington Post, a Jeff Bezos-owned company, will begin a round of layoffs during the first quarter of 2023.  The meeting became intense as employees were shouting questions while Ryan stormed out.  On the newspaper’s website, Ryan published a response blaming the staff cuts on declining economic conditions.  Remarks from the Washington Post Guild, which represents employees, said it was “outraged by the unceremonious announcement.”
