Multiple military experts expect the current stalemate in the Russia-Ukraine war to be broken soon. Justin Crump, a former British tank commander, thinks that when the ground freezes for the winter, Ukraine will launch an offensive in the southern Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian military analyst Oleh Zhdanov agrees, noting that Russia has concentrated artillery and missile attacks there. If successful, Ukraine could cut Russia’s land ties to Crimea, which it annexed in 2014. Crump added, with large numbers of Ukrainian troops in Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, Russia can inflict heavy losses using artillery and missile attacks.
