Bill Protecting Same-Sex Marriage on its Way to Biden

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.9

On Thursday the House of Representatives passed a bill that was approved by the Senate that gives protection to same-sex and interracial marriage nationally. If President Biden signs the bill, the measure will require all 50 states to recognize every marriage regardless of “sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin.” There is considerable push-back on the bill among some Republicans and conservative advocacy groups who argue the bill doesn’t adequately protect those with religious convictions that restricts their services for same-sex couples.  Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) said her priorities are to “protect religious liberty, protect people of faith and protect Americans who believe in the true meaning of marriage.”
