Iranian rock climber Elnaz Rekabi’s family home was destroyed just months after she participated in an international competition without wearing a hijab. Although she later apologized, the government perceived it as a protest in remembrance of Mahsa Amini, a young woman who was arrested by the Iranian morality police and died while in custody. Video footage of the demolished home with medals on the ground showed the climber’s brother crying, a champion rock climber himself. The anonymous man who captured the video said, “This is the result of living in this country.”
