The Biden administration pressed Canada to shut down the ‘Freedom Convoy’ blockades that started in January 2022. The reports were released at a public inquiry into the Canadian government’s decision to use emergency powers to dismantle the ‘Freedom Convoy’ blockades last Thursday. Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland testified at the inquiry about a February 10 phone call from Brian Deese, Biden’s top economic adviser, who conveyed deep concern about the situation. On February 11, Trudeau told Biden that they had a plan to shut down the blockades. Three days later, the Emergencies Act was invoked.
