Large protests have erupted in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and even in the far west region of Xinjiang in China.  The continued harsh measures by the Chinese government to try and control COVID-19 have sparked the protests.  Forced lockdowns, mass mandatory testing and quarantines are just of a few of the methods that continue to be used in China. Some of the protestors have been heard chanting, “Step down CCP! Step down Xi Jinping!”  A Dutch reporter who has been covering news in Shanghai for the past 10 years estimates she saw over 1,000 protestors and claims she has “never seen anything like this.”
