Bird Flu Outbreak Spreads In U.S.

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

A Nebraska egg-laying farm is the most recent to be struck by the nationwide outbreak of bird flu.  The farm’s 1.8 million chickens must be slaughtered, bringing the total to over 52 million birds affected in 46 different states.  Typically, bird flu dies off during the summer but this year it has lingered causing 6 million birds to be destroyed in September alone.  While posing little risk to human health, the outbreak has caused an increase in the price of chicken and turkey meat, as well as feed and fuel.
