An off-duty sheriff’s deputy from Vermont was shot by Saratoga Springs police after ignoring commands to drop his gun. They had rushed to the scene when they heard gun fire and found the deputy shooting another man after an alleged argument. “By my count, there are at least eight separate, clear, unequivocal commands to put the gun down and get on the ground” Saratoga Springs Public Safety Commissioner James Montagnino said. This incident is the first time in 26 years that Saratoga Springs police discharged their arms.
