Lt. Mariano Pargas, police chief during the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, officially retired from the force. A representative of the City of Uvalde stated, “Lt. Pargas retired effectively immediately. He was eligible to retire. Pargas served the city of Uvalde for 18 years.” Pargas was under investigation for his response to the school shooting and had been on administrative leave since July. Recently discovered audio from CNN suggests the chief failed to take action even when he knew there were children still alive inside the school.
