Proposed Bill in VA Would Prevent Males from Competing in Female Sports

Objectivity 4.7 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

The state of Virginia recently proposed legislation to prevent biological male athletes from participating in public high school and college female sports.  The measure requires sports teams to be classified as either male, female, or coed that are sponsored by a public educational institution, in which no biological males would be allowed on a female team.  If passed, the rules would take effect in 2023-2024 school year; however, as Democrats control the state Senate, the bill is not likely to reach Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s desk.
