Federal Judge Freezes The Use of Title 42

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.9 | Relevance 4.7

Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan of the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., ruled against the use of Title 42, a policy implemented to expel migrants at the southern border in the interest of public health during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Ending Title 42 would contribute further to the border crisis as the policy has expelled over one million migrants since 2020.  In strong opposition to the ruling, Texas Gov. Abbott tweeted, “This will further signal to cartels, human smugglers, & illegal immigrants that the border is wide open — inciting more violence & lawlessness. Disastrous.”
