Republican Katie Britt is the first woman to be elected in Alabama for the U.S. Senate.  Britt received about two-thirds of the votes defeating Democrat Will Boyd. “I am humbled, I am honored and grateful. I want you to know I understand what a tremendous responsibility these milestones carry and I do not take that lightly,” Britt said.  She began her political career 20 years ago working under Richard Shelby, whose seat she will fill.
