Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to develop into a Category 1 hurricane when it reaches the east coast of Florida on Wednesday night. According to the National Weather Service, the storm is projected to make landfall near Melbourne or Cocoa Beach early Thursday. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 34 Florida counties.
