During the current midterm elections, proposals to approve recreational marijuana are on the ballots for five states: Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri, North Dakota and South Dakota. The proposals come as Biden has made moves toward the decriminalizing of marijuana and pardoned thousands of Americans convicted of simple possession under federal law. Legal medical marijuana programs are currently operating in the five states.
