On Friday the Florida Board of Medicine and Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine voted to adopt rules prohibiting doctors from prescribing puberty blockers or performing certain surgeries on minors throughout the state. Florida Surgeon General Joseph Lapado backed the vote saying the decisions will “protect our children from irreversible surgeries and highly experimental treatments….” Gov. DeSantis declared, “When they say gender-affirming care, they mean chemically-castrating young boys. That is wrong. We are not going to allow that to happen in the state of Florida.”
