On Wednesday Joe Biden delivered a speech claiming that “democracy is on the ballot,” and that election deniers are “extreme MAGA Republicans…” whose views should be disregarded. He said, “in some cases we won’t know the winner of the election for a few days…,” setting the expectation that final results will be delayed, despite our country’s longstanding history of election results coming forth on election day, or at least the next morning. Biden used the recent Paul Pelosi incident to give his conjecture on “political violence” and “voter intimidation.” The overarching message of his speech was to proclaim the legitimacy of the 2020 election.
