NYC Mayor Declares State of Emergency Over Immigrant Influx

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.6

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has declared a state of emergency with the arrival of over 17,000 illegal migrants in New York since the spring.  Adams said that one in five people being sheltered by the city is a migrant. NYC has used 42 hotels to house migrants and explored the possibility of using cruise liners for more housing with Norwegian Cruise Lines.  Adams has been critical of Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott for transporting migrants from Texas to New York, but fellow Democratic Mayor Oscar Leeser of El Paso, Texas, has transported more migrants to New York City than Abbott.
