Objectivity 4.5 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

With vote counting nearly complete, Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy and other right-wing parties garnered 44% of parliamentary seats making Meloni Italy’s first female premier.  Despite the historically low voter turnout, the election is seen as sending a message to the European Union about the tone of Italy’s future relationship with the governing body. A Meloni-led government is expected, however, to maintain a pro-NATO stance.  While the election results are definitive, it will still take weeks of negotiations to form a working government.
