Republican attorneys general in 23 states have issued a warning to Visa, Master Card and American Express against recently announced plans to create a database of purchases made at gun stores in the U.S. A similar warning was sent by Senate Republicans last week. If carried out, the plan would give purchases made at gun retailers a distinct coding similar to an already existing database differentiating between purchases such as those made at a supermarket or a coffee shop. Previously, sales at gun retailers were classified as “general merchandise”.
