Rare Jewish Coin Returned to Israel After Being Stolen

Objectivity 4.9 | Credibility 4.9 | Relevance 4.7

A rare Jewish coin, minted in the year A.D. 69, has been returned to Israel after being smuggled out of the country and put up for auction in the U.S. when it was seized by Homeland Security. While coins from that era not unusual, there are only two confirmed examples of this particular denomination with the other being in the British Museum. While the coin has an estimated value of $1 million, an Israel Antiquities Authorities official called the coin an artifact of “national and scientific significance.”
