Antigua and Barbuda Consider Referendum to Depart From U.K. Monarchy

Gaston Browne, the prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda, announced he will push for a referendum to leave the greater United Kingdom. “It is the final step to complete that circle of independence, to ensure that we are truly a sovereign nation.” Last year Barbados became an independent republic.  New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the question is not “on the agenda anytime soon.”
