District Court Judge Francis Mathew has removed New Mexico Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin from office using a little known provision of the 14th Amendment. The provision prevents anyone who engages in insurrection or rebellion against the U.S. from holding state or federal office. Griffin, who is the founder of Cowboys for Trump, says that he did not break any laws on January 6th and is appealing a misdemeanor trespassing conviction. Judge Mathew has ordered that Griffin be removed from office immediately.
