Presently, Judge Reinhart who approved the FBI’s Mar-A-Lago search warrent is not handling Trump’s request for a special master. The case has been assigned to a Trump appointee, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon. A special mastser is an independent party who will investigate materials taken from Trump’s residence and remove any that could be privileged. The request also asked the court to halt the goverment’s review of seized materials until a special master is appointed.
