As reported by the Associated Press, the outbreak of monkeypox in the U.S. will be declared a public health emergency by the Biden Administration, freeing up federal funds to help fight the virus. Per data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 6,600 Americans have been infected with monkeypox. To date, those infected have been primarily men who have sex with men. The national declaration comes after some public figures urged the outbreak should be taken more seriously.
