Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan Sparks Largest Chinese Drills in 25 Years

Objectivity 4.2 | Credibility 4.7 | Relevance 4.6

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, marking the first visit of a House Speaker to the country in 25 years.  Beijing responded announcing its largest military drills in more than 25 years.  Half of the six areas where the drills are planned to take place appear to infringe on Taiwanese waters, according to Arthur Zhin-Sheng Wang, a defense studies expert at Taiwan’s Central Police University.  Wang warned that the Chinese measure could be interpreted as an act of war.
