Objectivity 3.8 | Credibility 4.6 | Relevance 4.6
Faculty at some universities across America are being required to sign diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statements as conditions for tenure or promotion despite growing pushback among faculty, as well as parents.  Cliff Mass, professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle, wrote in a recent blog, “Requiring all faculty members to support a social/political agenda favored by one segment of society not only politicizes the university, but represents ‘compelled speech,'” adding it’s “a violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution at a public university.”
