In Southwest Nigeria, gunmen opened fire inside and outside the St. Francis Catholic Church in the town of Owo, according to Reuters. The “attackers came in motorcycles and started shooting sporadically,” said an Owo legislator, Adeyemi Olayemi, as reported by CNN. Ondo state Gov. Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu described the scene as “a great massacre” leaving at least 50 dead, including women and children, and many others injured.
