In December 2021, an article circulated around Facebook allegedly written by former California judge, Keith M. Alber, titled “Opinion From a Former Judge.” In the article, he cites from his first year of law school the nine steps of how to overturn a democracy taken from a political science textbook published in 1954. Snopes writer, Jordan Liles, had a phone conversation with Alber who verified the authenticity of the article. Alber said, “What was printed in 1954 as a possible diabolic nightmare has become an emerging reality. I hope that Americans will unite enough to pen a good finish – Go dwelling.”
