Video footage in federal court on Dec. 17 showed former Harvard University professor and renowned nanoscientist Charles Lieber admitting he received tens of thousands of dollars from the Wuhan University of Technology. Lieber signed a five-year agreement in 2011 which described him as a “strategic scientist†at the Chinese school. The description alluded to his future involvement with China’s Thousand Talents Plan, a state-run program to solicit top scientific and specialized experts from around the world.
