Russia threatened NATO allies with the possibility of a nuclear missiles’ deployment in Europe as a reaction to what it perceives as NATO’s hostile intentions. The U.S. left in 2019 a treaty that banned intermediate-range ballistic and cruise missiles after Russia allegedly violated the 1987 agreement for years. “Lack of progress towards a political and diplomatic solution to this problem will lead to our response being of a military and technical military nature,” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
