New York Daily News reported a substitute teacher got suspended for telling the class, mostly composed of Chinese-American fifth-graders, that their parents wanted them to have freedom, so they left China because it’s a communist country. Schiller is 70 years old and has been teaching for 37 years. She was accused of racist and bullying behavior by the parents of the students. Schiller denied she said anything racist, adding that the students may have made things up because she reprimanded them for using a bathroom on the wrong floor.
