According to Tom Andrews, a United Nations investigator on the Myanmar human rights situation, “the junta is releasing political prisoners in Myanmar not because of a change of heart, but because of pressure.” The thousands of political and religious prisoners still jailed give credibility to Andrew’s statement. Three pastors, among the prisoners released, were granted amnesty.
