Mahjabin Hakimi, a leading female player on Afghanistan’s national volleyball team, was recently beheaded by the Taliban. Although the exact timing is unknown, the New York Post reported the horrific execution was early October. The coach of this particular volleyball team had to use a pseudonym, while the girl’s parents were threatened with violence if they spoke out. The remaining team members had to flee and disperse in fear for their lives.
