By submitting to a federal vaccination mandate for employees of companies holding contracts with the U.S. government, Southwest Airlines is violating terms with their employees. The federal policy states that unless employees have a religious, medical, or disability-related exemption they have to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021, or they will be terminated. Southwest Airlines Pilots Association has taken the airline to court over claims that the airline’s vaccine mandate violates terms of the Railway Labor Act, which governs airline-union relations.
