Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis named Dr. Joseph Ladapo, a UCLA doctor and health policy researcher to serve as the new surgeon general of the state. Lapado received his medical degree and a Ph.D. in health policy from Harvard University, and who like DeSantis doesn’t believe in school closures, lockdowns or vaccine mandates. Lapado has also said vaccines aren’t the only way to combat COVID-19 and getting one is a personal choice.
