On August 26, two suicide bombers outside Kabul’s airport killed 12 U.S. service members and around 60 Afghans. Pentagon blamed the attack on Islamic State terrorists (ISIS-K), and Biden vowed to avenge the victims. While pressure from both parties to extend the evacuations efforts increases, Biden remains decided to finish the evacuation by August 31st. The attacks come following a season of 18 months of zero casualties in Afghanistan before Biden’s disastrous withdrawal plan.
