At the state level, there has been a level of attack on gun control. The state has been trying to seize guns from the people of the U.S.. Although not confirmed, there is room to believe and say that it is safe to imply that seizing guns from the people by the government is a ploy to render the people powerless in fighting back against an increasingly tyrannical government. Looking at how it has been in other countries may just hint at such a thing.
